Research Summary
Melanotan I (MT-1) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), comprising a linear 13-amino acid peptide sequence. Unlike Melanotan II, MT-1 retains the full linear structure of α-MSH and is investigated in laboratory research for its selective interactions with the MC1R melanocortin receptor subtype and associated pigmentation signalling pathways. It is a widely studied compound in photoprotection and melanocortin receptor binding research.
