Overview ARA-290, also known as Cibinetide or Helix B Surface Peptide (HBSP), is a synthetic 11-amino acid peptide derived from the helix B domain of erythropoietin (EPO). It is designed to selectively activate the innate repair receptor (IRR) — a heterocomplex of the EPO receptor and the beta-common receptor (CD131) — without stimulating classical erythropoietic pathways. It is widely investigated in cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory signalling research, with particular interest in its interactions with JAK2/STAT3 and PI3K/Akt downstream pathways. Its ability to dissociate EPO's tissue-protective effects from its erythropoietic effects makes it a compound of significant interest in receptor-selective peptide research.
